It was a wet October atop Grandfather Mountain.
According to Grandfather’s news director, Landis Wofford, rain fell 18 out of October’s 31 days.
A total of 6.2 inches of rain fell last month at the mountain, which is over an inch more than the 54-year average. As far as the year goes, Grandfather has seen 62.4 inches of rain, which is 7.84 inches more than normal.
The average temperature was par for the course, with a 55 degree average high, which is about a degree warmer than normal, and a 41 degree low, 0.32 degrees above normal.
The daily high temperature of 70 degrees broke the daily high record on October 10, and a 65-degree high tied the record on October 22.
