As tax day gets closer, more and more people are turning to the web for help. The IRS has issued a caution about Internet websites that resemble the IRS site, but are not.

The only official IRS website is IRS officials say taxpayers may see websites that contain some version of IRS or Tax in their web name. The sites may look like the official IRS site. However, they could provide misleading information or be a vehicle for carrying out tax scams. Again, the only official IRS website is The IRS reports that to date, direct deposit refunds have already topped $100 billion dollars. And, they continue to remind folks to take the telephone excise tax refund.
