Sheriff says avoid illegal fireworks PDF Print

Avery County Sheriff Kevin Frye knows the dangers of illegal fireworks.

Today in particular, he says, is a time to be diligent. Besides facing criminal charges if something goes awry, people may find flaws with illegal fireworks.

Many are not up to standards-  always know the company and source of any firework you set off.

Illegal fireworks, in fact, can be unpredictable.

It can be difficult to tell how much time it will take for a fuse to burn. You may not have time to get away!

Above all, safety first, Frye said, and have a nice holiday.
