It’s the eighth week of Jerry Anderson’s first-degree murder trial- and Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office’s Major Jeff Stafford is taking the stand.

So far, he has told jurors the evidence points to Anderson. Stafford recounted conversations with Anderson about the case, as well as interviews with  a man who heard gunshots on December 29 at the farm where deputies believe Anderson shot his wife. Defense attorney Lisa Dubs questioned the Sheriff’s Office’s handling of the case. Court will not be in session today in observance of the Fourth of July and should resume at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow.
