A special reception will be held on Friday to celebrate the publication of a book about the history of architecture in the area.
According to Frieda VanAllen, of the Town of Boone, the Watauga County Historical Society published The Architectural History of Watauga County, North Carolina. The book takes a look at state surveys ranging back 30 years up to the present.
The book has over 600 illustrations with written descriptions of around 300 properties, and is accompanied by an essay about the overview and description of Watauga’s architectural heritage.
A special reception for the book will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 Friday evening at the Jones House in downtown Boone. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and those involved with the book’s publishing will be available to autograph the book.
