Authorities are still investigating a wreck involving a semi truck that happened yesterday afternoon on Highway 321 South just before the foot of the mountain where the highway widens to four lanes.

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred Sunday afternoon around 2:00, but authorities weren’t able to clear the scene until around midnight last night.

Investigators with the Highway Patrol are scheduled to look at the truck today to see if a mechanical malfunction caused the wreck.

It is unknown if any injuries were sustained in the crash.

High Country Radio has contacted the Highway Patrol and left a message to speak with the responding trooper and should have more information soon.
