The Appalachian State and Boone Police departments are looking into two break-ins that occurred Thursday night into Friday morning.

According to the ASU Police Department, the New River Light & Power offices on Winker’s Creek Road in Boone were broken into between 12:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. on Friday.  The suspect or suspects broke a window and stole an undisclosed amount of money from the night deposit box.

The same suspect or suspects are also believed to have attempted to open a safe with an acetylene torch that was stolen earlier that night from Miller’s Auto Repair Shop on Daniel Boone Drive.  The suspects were unsuccessful in opening the safe.

The ASU Police Department is investigating the break-in at New River Light and Power and the Boone Police Department is looking into the break-in at Miller’s Auto Repair.

Anyone with information about either of these crimes is asked to call High Country Crimestoppers at (828) 268-6959.
