Watauga High principal Michael Wyant has announced that with the resignation of one assistant prinipal there will be some personnel changes.
According to Wyant, Jeff Link will be giving up his duties as the schools Director of Athletics and will become an assistant principal. Longtime coach and PE teacher Tom Wright will become the school's new Athletic Director and he will also assume the role of testing coordinator.
The Watauga School District will interview and hire a new PE teacher to replace Wright for the remainder of the school year beginning October 8. And according to Mr. Wyant, it will be an interim position since it was not in place prior to the opening of the school year.
These moves became necessary when assistant principal Dr. David Kincaid resigned this week. Kincaid, who was also the running backs coach on the WHS football team, resigned for personal reasons.
Link and Wright will remain in their current position until an interim PE teacher is found. Only then, according to Link will the change occur, with Link assuming his assistant principal duties and Wright becoming Athletic Director.
These positions will also be permanent through the remainder of the school year. A re-evaluation of the situation will be conducted by the school district in June of 2010.
