Ever wanted to see what the High Country was like before streetlights? What about before tourists and strip malls?

Now you can. The Banner House Museum in Banner Elk lets you visit the 19th century. Through displays, demonstrations and walking tours, the museum showcases the trials, as well as pastimes of some of the ancestors of folks currently in the High Country. Its Grand Opening on Saturday was a hit- and it only gets better from here.

The Museum will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.  Walking tours of the historic district of Banner Elk are available for an additional fee.
