Authorities are investigating a situation at Mt. Jefferson State Park after a body was found inside the park.

According to Jesse Campbell of the Jefferson Post, State and National Parks officials and local authorities began searching the park after an abandoned car was found on one of the park’s overlooks last night around 7:00.

Authorities said they believe the car belonged to the deceased man they found in the park.

Mt. Jefferson State Park is closed today while they look into the death.

Officials would not say where the body was found.

Park Ranger Kelly Safley told the Jefferson Post, “At this point all we can tell is that a body has been found and we’re not allowing people into the area.”

Mt. Jefferson State Park is located in Jefferson.
