|Hospital Volunteers Honored|

Cannon Memorial Hospital honored 21 volunteers for their dedicated service at a luncheon yesterday.
According to Vicki Stevens of the Appalachian Regional Healthcare System, volunteers were given pins to recognize their service to the hospital.
Stevens said these volunteers have given from 100 to 8,000 hours of their time to help the hospital. Rose Cole and Danny Ramsey were recognized for ten years of volunteer work and Peg Hulse was recognized for 25 years of volunteer service.
Stevens said volunteers at CMH brouth in over $23,000 through fundraisers and gave back over $18,000 for patient service needs and equipment. Volunteers also gave scholarships to students in the local community who are pursuing a career in the healthcare field.
Cannon Memorial Hospital volunteers were also recognized by the North Carolina Hospital Volunteer organization as a five-star hospital. Stevens said this award is based on activities they participated in during the year, as well as their involvement in their local community.
