Former Mountaineer Jason Hunter made his Detroits Lions debut a good one last Sunday during a lopsided loss to the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome.
Hunter, who helped Appalachian State nail down its first national title in 2005, had four tackles and a tackle for loss in a 45-27 loss. Hunter, who signed with the Green Bay Packers as a free agent in 2005, was released in March and signed by the Lions. He got the starting job at defensive end when Jared DeVries went down with a ruptured Achilles in training camp and was lost for the season. And former Mountaineer Marques Murrell made a special teams tackle (the 15th of his career) for the New York Jets on Sunday during their 24-7 win against the Houston Texans.
