Former Appalachian State defensive end Jason Hunter will be in the starting lineup Saturday as the Detroit Lions take on the Atlanta Falcons in their pre-season opener at Ford Field.

Hunter, who was claimed by Detroit on waivers from Green Bay, cracked the starting line up when Jared DeVries suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon at practice on Monday. Hunter was moved up to the first team at left end on Tuesday.

Hunter, a four-year pro, scored the game-winning touchdown against Northern Iowa in the national championship game at Chattanooga in 2005. The first of three national titles for ASU.
