Captain Dee Dee Rominger of the Watauga County Sheriff's Office said the girl was reported missing just before midnight last night.

Family members reportedly picked Sydney Elizabeth Combs up at her house on Hawk Ridge Road in the Powder Horn Community of Deep Gap.

Authorities believe Combs may be heading to Myrtle Beach to meet her father, Sidney Everett Combs, Jr.

The 14-year-old is Caucasian with black hair and blue eyes.  She stands about five feet tall and weighs about 90 pounds.  She was last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, a purple, green, and black tie dye shirt, black shorts, and pink and blue socks.

Anyone with information about the girl’s whereabouts should contact the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office at (828) 264-3761.

UPDATE:  Sidney Everett Combs, Jr. has a criminal record with the North Carolina Department of Correction.  The 49-year-old has been convicted of several breaking and entering and larceny charges.  According to the N.C. Department of Corrections, Combs also attempted to escape from prison, was convicted of carrying a concealed weapon, and convicted of selling a controlled substance.

Investigators are treating this incident as a runaway case.
