Trace amounts of a poisonous chemical was found in Chinese-made
toothpaste distributed to state prisoners.
The toothpaste was given to
prisoners who could not afford to buy a name brand at prison stores. The
Pacific brand paste contained diethylene glycol, also found in antifreeze. For
now, inmates will be given Colgate toothpaste while officials decide on a
brand. The FDA issued a warning last week on Chinese toothpaste.
