Authorities are still looking into what may have killed a North Wilkesboro kayaker over the weekend.

According to the Winston-Salem Journal, boaters found 54-year-old Gary James Watson floating near his kayak around 3:45 Saturday afternoon in the W. Kerr Scott Reservoir.

Watson is believed to have left his kayak to go for a swim.  Investigators found his belongings, including diabetes medication, dry and in his kayak.  Authorities also say his kayak did not appear to be damaged.

Authorities are reportedly waiting for autopsy results before announcing a cause of death.
