Adam Church of Watauga High has been named to the Class 4A North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association All-State team.
Church, who will attend East Tennessee State University a Division I school and a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference, batted .473 with 35 hits, four doubles, seven home runs, 24 runs-batted-in and an .811 slugging percentage in 25 games. Chruch, who wants to be a pharmacist, was also named Northwestern 4A Conference Player of the Year, and he will join former Pioneer Trey Dunnigan at ETSU. Tyler Zupcic of Providence, who will attend Appalachian State this fall, was also named to the All-State squad. Dylan Crump of Hibriten was named to the Class 2A All-State team. Pitcher Alex Wood of Ardrey Kell, who will attend the University of Georgia this fall, was named the NCBCA Class 4A Player of the Year. Former WHS assistant coach and current Providence head coach, Danny Hignight, was named the Southwestern 4A Conference Player of the Year.
