Hickory: Police in Hickory have arrested a 43-year old man in connection with the murder of a patient in an assisted living center in SE Hickory overnight.
WSOC-TV is reporting that a scuffle was heard at about midnight on a patio just behind Walden House, located on 3rd Avenue SE in Hickory. There they found 70-year old Roland Simmons suffering from head trauma, and police say Simmons died at the scene. The suspect, also a resident of Walden House, fled the scene but was captured a short time later and was taken to the magistrate's office to be charged. So far no motive for the murder has been determined.
