Local Chiropractor Breaks Course Record in L.L. Bean 10k PDF Print

Running has been the story of Ryan Woods’ life and he added another chapter to that story by setting the course record at the L.L. Bean 10k race in Maine over the weekend.

On Saturday, Woods finished first in a field of over 1,000 runners at the L.L. Bean 10k in Maine and even set a track record of 32:01 along the way.

Woods was an integral part of Watauga High Schools’ 1997 cross-country state championship team.  After graduating college, Woods went on to run for the Nike Farm Team, and then became a professional runner when he was sponsored by Mizuno.

Woods also won the Bear Hill Climb in 2006 and 2008 and finished second in 2007.  His career in running even inspired him to open his Marathon Chiropractic Clinic on King Street in downtown Boone.

The annual Bear Hill Climb race kicks off the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games tomorrow evening, and odds are that anyone planning on winning the race will have to get through Woods to take the blue ribbon.
