The Boone Police Department arrested the man they believe has been responsible for eight vehicle break-ins over the past four months.
Investigator Glen Kornhauser of the Boon Police Department said 20-year-old James Aaron Davis, of North Wilkesboro, was arrested today.
Kornhauser said in many cases, Davis is believed to have used stolen credit cards and checks to make various purchases in the Boone area. Davis is believed to have used four stolen checks at the Kangaroo Express on Blowing Rock Road to purchase pre-paid Visa credit cards.
Davis faces eight felony charges of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, eight counts of misdemeanor larceny, two felony counts of financial card theft, and four felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense.
Investigator Kornhauser added that GoBlueRidge.net and the posted Crimestoppers reports were very helpful in the Boone Police Department’s investigation into the incident. Kornhauser said Davis saw his picture on a previous Crimestoppers report and was monitoring GBR to see how close investigators were to solving the case.
Davis was given a court date of September 15 and was placed under a $24,000 bond.
