The North Carolina Bar Association elected a Raleigh attorney to lead the group, the first black male attorney to serve as its president.  Charles L. Becton of Durham will assume the year-long post in June of 2008. In a statement to the press, Becton called his election “a tremendous opportunity.” Becton will replace Greensboro attorney Janet Ward Black as the group’s 114th president. Black was sworn in Saturday during the association’s annual meeting.
