The Appalachian State athletic department announced on Wednesday night that the Mountaineers have entered into a six-game agreement with Montana and McNeese State.
The Mountaineers will play Montana at home on September 1, 2012 and travel to Montana for the rematch in 2013 on a date to be announced. The Mountaineers will travel to McNeese State for a game on August 30, 2014 before the team hook up for a rematch at Kid Brewer Stadium on September 5, 2015. Montana and McNeese State will play each other in 2016 and 2017. The agreement also includes $100,000 in guaranteed money for travel expenses; and there will be a buy-out clause of $250,000 for each program. The Mountaineers are 0-1 vs. the Grizzlies, losing a heartbreaking 19-16 decision in Missoula in the national semi-finals in 2000; the Apps will play McNeese State for the first time this fall when the Cowboys come to town for the season opener at Kid Brewer on September 12.
