After pushing the switch date back several months, the Federal Communications Commission has mandated that local television stations do away with their analog signals by tomorrow.

That means anyone who does not use cable or satellite services to receive or does not have a digital television receiver will be left in the dark.

Residents will still be able to pick up television signals over-the-air, but must have a digital converter box or a television with an internal digital receiver.

Several area television stations have been sending out digital signals for months, but according to federal law, they must stop transmitting analog signals by tomorrow.

The High Country’s only local television station, MTN, will continue to broadcast using their analog signal.  MTN’s news anchor and producer, Lindsay Ward, told High Country Radio the digital conversion would not affect the television station in any way.
