The Watauga County Firefighters Association will be putting on Emergency Fest this Saturday.
Matthew Crawford of the Boone Fire Department and the Watauga County Firefighters Association said Saturday’s event is free and open to the public.
Crawford said, “This is a perfect time for you to come out and see where the taxpayers’ money is going, and you can see what services we provide.”
Crawford said Emergency Fest will feature firefighters, fire trucks, paramedics, S.W.A.T. Teams, face painting, a demonstration from the Wilkes County Bomb Squad and other fun activities for the whole family.
Crawford explained, “A thing that kids really like is that we’re going to have two helicopters come in. WINGS Air Rescue and also Med Center Air, which are two helicopters that we use in the High Country, they’ll be here. Kids will be able to see them land and sit down with them.”
Seth Norris, of the Watauga County Firefighters Association, said around 1,000 residents came out to last summer’s Emergency Fest.
The event will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday in Appalachian State’s Raley Parking Lot and on Howard Street. A small section of Howard Street will be closed for Emergency Fest.
