A 92-year-old Foscoe man was airlifted to the Johnson City Medical Center after his lawn tractor flipped on top of him on Saturday afternoon.
According to George Wright of the Foscoe Volunteer Fire Department, a Kabotu tractor with an attached Bush Hog fell on the man in his front yard at his home on Grandfather Road around 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
A member of the man's family called emergency personnel.
Wright said firefighters cleared a landing zone for WINGS Air Rescue at the Twin Rivers baseball field.
Wright said he spoke with a medic this morning who said the man suffered at least 16 broken ribs along with several other broken bones and lacerations.
The man’s name has not been released.
Watauga Medics, the Watauga County Rescue Squad, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, and the Avery County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
