FDA warns against Chinese toothpaste PDF Print
Written by Lauren Ohnesorge

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has found a poisonous chemical in certain toothpastes imported from China. The chemical, diethylene glycol, also called diglycol, is a poisonous substance used in antifreeze and as a solvent. According to the FDA, even in small concentrations, diethylene glycol does not belong in toothpaste. The FDA is strongly warning consumers to avoid using any toothpaste labeled as “made in China” because levels as high as four percent have been found in the toothpaste. Brands identified include Dr. Cool Coolmint, DentaPro, Clean Rite, ShiRFresh and Dentakleen. For more brand names, visit our website at www.goblueridge.net.
