Boone Police Urge Residents to Lock Car Doors PDF Print

After nearly a dozen vehicle owners in the Kellwood Community found their cars had been broken into over the weekend, the Boone Police Department is urging residents to lock their vehicles and take a few other precautions to keep from becoming a victim.

Detective Glen Kornhauser of the Boone Police Department said besides locking your car door, keeping personal items put away can help deter a potential thief.  Kornhauser explained having valuable items and accessories in the seat or floorboard may entice someone to break into your vehicle.

Kornhauser also said parking in a highly visible location makes your vehicle a tougher target for thieves.

Marking your belongings with your drivers license number and writing down serial numbers for valuables also increases the likelihood authorities will be able to recover them if they are stolen.

Kornhauser will appear on your favorite High Country Radio station tomorrow morning to talk about vehicular larcenies and to give you other tips on how to protect your belongings.
