Governor Bev Perdue proposed doing away with tests that are not required for high school graduation or by federal law as part of her budget.

According to the McClatchy Tribune, the Senate has a list of tests that could be eliminated including algebra II, geometry, physics, chemistry, physical science, and computer tests that are given to eighth graders.

Some teachers and lawmakers believe these tests to little to gauge how much the student has learned and how efficiently the school is teaching children.
