Senator Kay Hagan joined as an original cosponsor of a bill called the Education and Awareness Requires Learning Young Act, or EARLY Act, which is designed to help raise awareness and early detection among young women who may be at risk of breast cancer.
Hagan said, “Women need to be aware of techniques to identify problems early on. As a mother of two daughters, I think it is crucial that young women know how best to recognize early warning signs and reduce risk factors.”
According to one of Hagan’s spokespeople, the EARLY Act would direct the Center for Disease Control to create an extensive national awareness campaign to about the breast cancer. The EARLY Act would also promote a healthier lifestyle for women and have the CDC develop an educational campaign to help patients address long-term affects and challenges associated with breast cancer.
