Motorcycle Ride to Honor Local Child to be Held Saturday PDF Print

The Kali Church Memorial Motorcycle Ride will be on Saturday morning to honor a local three-year-old girl who passed away from meningitis nearly a year ago.

Keith Honeycutt, who is one of several members of the community helping organize the event, said Greg and Christy Church, from the Triplett community, took their daughter, Kali, to the doctor several times, but her illness couldn’t be immediately diagnosed.

Honeycutt said, "Her parents took her to the emergency room at the hospital and said that she was feeling sick, they didn’t know what was wrong, and she was continuing to get worse.  The hospital basically told them they couldn’t diagnose anything right at the time and didn’t know what was wrong either.  Back and forth between the home and the hospital, she passed away.”

Honeycutt said Greg and Christy Church decided to organize a motorcycle ride in their daughter’s honor and to also raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Registration for the ride will be held from 8:00 until 9:30 on Saturday morning, and riders are scheduled to leave Hollar and Greene, which is across from Mack Brown Chevrolet on Highway 421 in Boone, at 10:00.

Registration costs $20 per bike and the two-hour ride will also feature food and live entertainment.

Honeycutt explained that several area businesses and organizations, including the local chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association, have been instrumental in organizing the memorial ride.
