Barry Aldridge, also known as “Illene Dover,” is the reigning queen of the Ashe County Relay for Life Womanless Beauty Pageant and he, or she, is looking to pass the crown to the 2009 winner on Saturday.

Deanna Lewis of the Ashe County Relay said several men in the community have volunteered to dress as women to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Lewis said the womanless beauty pageant is one of the Ashe County Relay’s most popular fundraising events.

The beauty pageant will be held Saturday evening at Ashe County High School.  Lewis said the doors open at 6:00 and the show begins at 7:00.  Tickets cost $10 at the door.
