Swift’s coworker, Glen Kornhauser, said doctors told Swift he had a rare type of Leukemia that was treatable and has a high survival rate.
Swift has gone through his first round of chemotherapy but is expected to stay at Baptist Hospital for four to six more weeks.
Kornhauser said Swift is expected to miss about six months of work because of his illness.
Several members of the community met Thursday evening to plan a series of fund raising events to help support Swift and his family. High Country Radio will pass along more information about these fundraisers as details develop.
