The Watauga Hunger Coalition has almost depleted their food supply and are asking Watauga County residents to donate food.
The Hunger Coalition’s executive director, Compton Fortuna, said more and more residents are requesting services from the Hunger Coalition.
Fortuna said, “One day last week we gave out food to 50 different families, which is a busy day, but I’d say on average now it’s about 30 families per day.”
Fortuna said residents can drop off any type of food they would normally buy for themselves at the grocery store, but non-perishables like canned foods and pastas are especially useful.
Fortuna said residents could drop off food at the Watauga Hunger Coalition’s office off of Bamboo Road, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
