Bill
Burkett never knew his father.
He was five-days when his father, 28-year-old Lawrence Burkett shipped out for World War II. Saturday, he will finally
be laid to rest in his hometown of Jefferson following a service at Friendship
Baptist Church. It’s a bittersweet experience for his son.
His
mother, Dora, died in 1994, never knowing what happened to her husband. She never remarried.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 on
Saturday. The service will follow at 3 at Friendship Baptist Church.
