The Appalachian State Colleges Against Cancer chapter is hosting a Relay for Life tonight at Duck Pond Field on ASU’s campus.
Co-chair for the Watauga County Relay for Life, Sharon Trivette, said ASU’s relay is open to the public and will feature John Carter as the opening speaker. Carter is the morning and noon anchor on WBTV in Charlotte and is an ASU alumnus and cancer survivor.
The ASU Relay has more than 30 teams registered to participate and as of Friday morning has already raised $18,000. Trivette said the money raised at ASU’s relay will go into the Watauga County total.
The opening ceremony is scheduled to begin at 6:00 Friday evening.
