Deep Gap House Fire is Most Likely a Total Loss PDF Print

Despite extinguishing the fire before total destruction, emergency personnel say an early morning house fire in Deep Gap will most likely be counted as a total loss.

Emergency Management Technician with the Watauga County Fire Marshall’s Office, David Hancock, said the five people who lived in the house at 1092 North Pine Run Road were home at the time of the fire, but everyone escaped without injury.

Hancock said the emergency call came in around 6:00 Friday morning and firefighters had the blaze under control by 6:45.  Responders were able to leave the scene about 10:20 Friday morning.

Hancock explained that though the home wasn’t burned to the ground, he believes the insurance company will rule the incident a total loss because of heavy heat and smoke damage throughout the house.

The Deep Gap, Boone, and Stewart Simmons fire departments responded to the scene, along with Watauga Medics and the Watauga County Rescue Squad.
