The Ashe County Habitat for Humanity received a $3,000 grant from Home Depot.
According to Ashe County’s Habit for Humanity’s resource community member, Carla Wade, the grant was given through the Home Depot House Impact Grant program.
Wade said the grant is given to nonprofit organizations that focus on affordable housing projects while using environmentally friendly materials.
Since the Ashe County Habitat became an official affiliate of the Habitat for Humanity International organization last October, Wade said the organization has strived to make safe and affordable housing in Ashe County.
The Ashe County Habitat for Humanity uses green building materials including solar panels and recycled building materials.
