Many areas of the High Country are experiencing heavy fog and area authorities are asking motorists to slow down while driving.
Gary Taylor with the Deep Gap Volunteer Fire Department said they responded to a wreck early Tuesday afternoon that was caused by limited visibility.
Taylor said a Honda Pilot and a Chevrolet Tracker were stopped at a red light on Highway 421 east of Boone when a Honda Accord smashed into the vehicles because the driver couldn’t see that they were stopped.
Taylor said one vehicle was totaled in the crash and a woman in the Honda Pilot was transported to Watauga Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening neck and back injuries.
Taylor said the Deep Gap area is especially foggy from Boone to the Stony Fork Road turnoff.
