Ruth Graham, wife of evangelist Billy Graham, died at
5:05 p.m. yesterday at her home at Little Piney Cove.
She was 87. Ruth
originally wanted to work as a missionary, but gave it up to marry Billy. Ruth
had been bedridden for months with degenerative osteoarthritis of the back and
neck. In a statement yesterday, Billy Graham called Ruth his “life partner,”
saying they were “called by God as a team.” Ruth’s son, Franklin, runs
Samaritan’s Purse in Boone.
