The Charlotte Observer is reporting that Buzz Peterson has decided not to return to his old job at Appalachian State University as its men’s head basketball coach.
Peterson, who coached at ASU from 1996-2000, led the Mountaineers to the NCAA Tournament in 1999-2000. He posted three 20-win seasons and a Southern Conference tournament championship at ASU before he left for Tulsa.
Peterson, the Player Personal Director of the Charlotte Bobcats, notified ASU of his decision on Thursday, more than a week-and-a-half after the two sides began talking.
