The fate of the Watauga County Skate Park may be decided as early as May according to Watauga County’s Deputy County Manager, Deron Geouque.

Watauga County Parks and Recreation Director, Stephen Poulos, said because of county budget cuts and a lack of use, the Recreation Commission reluctantly voted 13-1 to advise Watauga County Commissioners to shut down the skate park.

Geouque said the county commissioners have tentatively scheduled discuss budget issues, including the future of the Watauga County Skate Park, at their May 7 meeting.
