Spring Weekend--Winter Week PDF Print
Written by Steve Frank

Hope you enjoyed the spring weekend...winter begins a return visit today. A strong cold front will cross the mountains today, bringing some early rain showers--precipitation that will turn to snow.  And the snow could accumulate on the west-facing slopes up to four inches, according to the National Weather Service, with some accumulation across the rest of the High Country.  The blast of cold air is predicted to bring temperatures below freezing for the entire state by tomorrow morning with a hard freeze here in the mountains.  Even Charlotte could see a morning low tomorrow down to 26 degrees, according to WSOC-TV.  The cost to agriculture could be severe, especially in the Sandhills and Coastal Plain where the growing season is well underway.  Here in the mountains, look for a second--and maybe a third--generation of buds and flowers before spring really takes hold here.  Don't forget to bring in the pets and put out food for the birds!
