The Associated Press reports North Carolina State University could lay off as many as 150 employees by July and cut class offerings for next school year, but according to Chancellor Ken Peacock, Appalachian State has no such plans.

As previously reported, ASU will not offer extra classes next year because of budget cuts.  Peacock told High Country Radio the university isn’t going to be able to add more classes to the schedule.  Peacock explained that no current classes are expected to be cut, so next year’s schedule will look much like the one this year.

Peacock also said even though it is very possible N.C. State will lay off employees and cut classes, Appalachian still has no plans to do so.

Peacock said next year’s budget remains very uncertain and school officials are keeping a close eye on budget talks coming from Raleigh.
