| Former Pioneer Gruganus continues to shine at USC |

Former Pioneer Sally Gruganus, a rising junior at the University of South Carolina, reached an NCAA qualifying mark in the pole vault as she cleared the bar at 12 feet-9 ½ inches at the Weems Baskins Invitational in Columbia, SC on Saturday.
Gruganus was a five-time state champion for the Pioneers, and she owns the Watauga High record for the pole vault with an effort of 12 feet her senior year.
