Family members of murder victim Emily Anderson sobbed as
jurors saw pictures of Emily’s body inside and outside of the toolbox in which
she was found.
Murder suspect Jerry Anderson did not look at the photographs as
his attorneys examined them. During his testimony, Lt. Tracy Pyle described
finding the body in the toolbox in the back of the pickup truck. Thinking the
vehicle was merely abandoned, he had a tow truck operator help open the box,
hoping it would contain clues as to Emily’s whereabouts.
“I was taken aback,” he said,” I didn’t expect her to be in
there.”
Defense attorneys questioned why the blood was only
found in North Carolina when the truck was discovered in Duncan, South
Carolina. The defense also asked about investigation of a former dairy employee
who had been fired prior to the incident for destroying property. The defense
alleged the man had ties to Duncan, South Carolina.
