| Billboard bill clears Senate Committee |

A bill that would allow outdoor advertisers to cut vegetation from a larger area near their billboards cleared a hurdle yesterday when it cleared a Senate committee. The bill would also set strict penalties for illegal cutting. Environmentalists opposed the bill. It has one more committee to go before a full Senate vote.
