Boone Police are looking for a suspect involved in an attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon over the weekend.
The incident was reported between 2:00 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.
According to the police report, an Appalachian State student was walking east on Howard Street after leaving Char Restaurant.
A white male wearing a dark colored toboggan and dark clothing approached the student and demanded money.
The student then tried to talk to the suspect and was stabbed in the chest.
The student also sustained other minor injuries in the attack.
After the incident, the suspect fled the scene on foot.
The victim was taken to the Watauga Medical Center and questioned by officers with the Boone Police Department.
According to ASU officials, the suspect was described as standing around six feet tall, being of medium build, and is believed to be in his mid-to-late twenties.
