Bodies found on Apalossa Trail PDF Print

Two bodies were discovered yesterday morning, according to sheriff's reports. 

At approximately 9:23 AM, officers from the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 519 Apalossa Trail, Boone, North Carolina in reference to a 911 call.  Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered the bodies of Susan Pearce Hayes and Dale Steven Hayes.  Dr. Brent Hall, Medical Examiner was called to 519 Apalossa Trail.  Investigation at the scene revealed that Susan Pearce Hayes died of gunshot wounds to the chest area and Dale Steven Hayes died of a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to the neck area.
