Officer Andy Le Beau of the Boone Police Department told Aisling Broadcasting that the man suspected of stealing a $300 pair of boots from Watsonatta Western Wear on King Street turned himself in after seeing his surveillance picture on GoBlueRidge.Net.
Le Beau said 21-year-old Jason William Joyner, a graduate student at Appalachian State University, turned himself over to authorities on Wednesday evening.
Le Beau said Watauga County Crimestoppers was a huge help in arresting Joyner.
A spokesperson with Appalachian State’s Office of Student Conduct said Joyner may face further punishment through the school.
Joyner was released after he submitted a written promise to appear in court on March 10th.
