The Investigation Division of the Boone Police Department arrested a Boone woman, charging her felony embezzlement after an ongoing investigation at the AT&T store at the Boone Mall.

According to Detective Glen Kornhauser of the Boone P.D., 25-year-old Saralyn Ortiz is a former employee at AT&T and is believed to have taken money from the false refund of store merchandise during November and December of last year.

The amount of money taken has not been released.

Ortiz was brought before the Watauga County Magistrate and placed on a $3,000 bond and a March 10th court date.
